A Private, Physician-Led Medical Spa Reached From Portola Valley
A quiet, unhurried practice
We are a small, appointment-only practice. You are seen at a fixed time by the same physician each visit, in the same place Dr. Susan Lin has practised for over 18 years, with no rotating roster and no crowded waiting room.
If privacy and a calm setting matter to you, tell us when you book and we will arrange the timing around it.
Getting here
The route is Interstate 280 north, then Highway 92 east, then Alameda de las Pulgas and El Camino Real. It is about 19 miles and 30 minutes at free flow, and it does not use US-101 or pass through the interchange that Caltrans is rebuilding through summer 2028.
There is no practical train from Portola Valley, so this is a driving trip. Interstate 280 northbound is delayed in the late afternoon, so an arrival in mid-morning or early afternoon tends to be easier. Parking when you arrive is private, on-site and free.
Easy to find, easy to park
We are in central San Mateo, reachable from US-101 or Interstate 280, with private on-site parking at no cost. San Mateo Caltrain station is 0.80 miles away, about a 15-minute walk.
The same physician, for over 18 years
MD Laser and Cosmetics was founded in 2006 and has been at this San Mateo address for over 18 years. Your consultation is with Dr. Susan Lin herself, trained in obstetrics and gynecology and practising since 1991. She is fluent in Mandarin. She performs every treatment personally. Most patients come for Botox, Dysport and dermal fillers, with an emphasis on natural results. We are open Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00, by appointment. The $150 new-patient consultation is applied toward same-day treatment, in person or by video.

Questions from Portola Valley patients
What is the best route?
Interstate 280 north, then Highway 92 east. About 19 miles and 30 minutes at free flow.
When is the drive easier?
Interstate 280 northbound is slower in the late afternoon, so mid-morning or early afternoon appointments are generally the easier option.
Is there a train?
Not from Portola Valley. The nearest Caltrain stop, in Menlo Park, is not practical for this trip, so most patients drive.
