A Physician-Led Medical Spa 1.7 Miles From Hillsborough

Hillsborough has no commercial district of its own, and we found no aesthetic practice within the town. Anyone here considering treatment is travelling somewhere.

That makes where you go a real decision rather than a default, and most Hillsborough patients make it once and then stay.

Getting here

Three turns, via Floribunda Avenue and El Camino Real. 1.7 miles, and no freeway at any point — so nothing about your journey touches the US-101 and Highway 92 interchange that Caltrans is rebuilding until summer 2028.

Hillsborough has the lowest transit-commute share of any community we serve, at 1.9 percent, and we are not going to pretend the train is relevant. You will drive, it takes a few minutes, and there is private parking when you arrive.

Discretion

A great deal of what we do is quiet work — Botox and Dysport placed conservatively, filler used to restore volume rather than add it. The intention is that people notice you look well, not that you have had something done.

This is a small practice. You see the same physician each visit, in the same place she has practised for over 18 years. There is no rotating roster and no treatment-room churn.

The nearest alternatives to us are in Burlingame, and the larger ones are chains where treatment is delivered by nurses, nurse practitioners or laser technicians. That may suit some people perfectly well. It is simply a different proposition from a physician who has been at one address for nearly two decades.

Central Silicon Valley, without the drive into San Francisco

Many people on the Peninsula assume the good options are in San Francisco, and that getting there means bridge traffic and a garage. We are in the middle of the Peninsula, reachable from Interstate 280 or US-101, with private on-site parking at no cost. San Mateo Caltrain station is 0.80 miles away, about a 15-minute walk.

The same physician, for over 18 years

MD Laser and Cosmetics was founded in 2006 and has been at this San Mateo address for over 18 years. Your consultation is with Dr. Susan Lin herself, trained in obstetrics and gynecology and practising since 1991. She is fluent in Mandarin. She performs every treatment personally. Most patients come for Botox, Dysport and dermal fillers, with an emphasis on natural results. We are open Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00, by appointment. The $150 new-patient consultation is applied toward same-day treatment, in person or by video.

Questions from Hillsborough patients

How long does it take to get to you?

A few minutes — 1.7 miles via Floribunda and El Camino Real, three turns, no freeway.

Will it be obvious I have had something done?

That is the most common question we are asked, and the answer is that it should not be. We dose conservatively and build up rather than over-correct, and new patients are encouraged back at 14 days so we can assess the settled result before adding anything.

Can I be seen without being seen?

Appointments are scheduled individually and the practice is small. If privacy matters to you, say so when you book and we will arrange the timing accordingly.
