A Physician-Led Medical Spa Reached From Montara
Many of our patients come from Montara, Moss Beach, El Granada and the rest of the Coastside. There are few medical spas on the coast, and we have built our scheduling around the trip.
Two routes, and both are real drives
From Montara it is about 20 miles and 32 minutes at free flow by Highway 1 north through the Tom Lantos tunnels, Pacifica, Interstate 280, Interstate 380 and US-101 south. The alternative is Highway 1 south to Half Moon Bay and then Highway 92 over the hill, which is about 21 miles and 35 minutes. From Moss Beach it is about 20 miles and 34 minutes, and from El Granada about 17 miles and 30 minutes.
Neither route goes near the US-101 and Highway 92 interchange that Caltrans is rebuilding through summer 2028.
We will not tell you either is easy at every hour. Highway 1 through Pacifica carries heavy traffic at commute times, and Highway 92 over the hill has had daytime one-way traffic control and a storm-related closure in recent years. A Highway 1 rehabilitation project between Moss Beach and Half Moon Bay is also under way into 2027, so check Caltrans road conditions before you leave.
How we schedule Coastside patients
We generally accommodate Montara, Pacifica and Half Moon Bay patients at off-peak commute hours, so your trip is not spent in the heaviest traffic. Tell us when you book where you are coming from, and we will take that into account.
There is no practical rail connection from the Coastside, so patients drive. When you arrive, parking is private, on-site and free.
Central Silicon Valley, without the drive into San Francisco
Many people on the Peninsula assume the good options are in San Francisco, and that getting there means bridge traffic and a garage. We are in the middle of the Peninsula, reachable from Interstate 280 or US-101, with private on-site parking at no cost. San Mateo Caltrain station is 0.80 miles away, about a 15-minute walk.
The same physician, for over 18 years
MD Laser and Cosmetics was founded in 2006 and has been at this San Mateo address for over 18 years. Your consultation is with Dr. Susan Lin herself, trained in obstetrics and gynecology and practising since 1991. She is fluent in Mandarin. She performs every treatment personally. Most patients come for Botox, Dysport and dermal fillers, with an emphasis on natural results. We are open Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00, by appointment. The $150 new-patient consultation is applied toward same-day treatment, in person or by video.
